Project Description

The main goal of the SmartLink proposal is to continue aligning teaching, research and knowledge-based innovation systems in Lot-4 Asian countries as a way to maintain and foster deeper cooperation between the European and Asian partners. The project aims to develop new Higher Education (HE) partnerships building on the existing EU-Asia academic network of some SmartLink partners developed through EASTWEST Asia-link TH/Asia Link/004 (91712) project in 2004 and extended through a number of additional EMA2 projects (e.g., eLINK 2008-4949, Sustainable eTourism 2010-2359, cLINK 372242, FUSION 545774) and the SKIMA (International conference on Software, Knowledge, Information Management and Applications) conference series. SmartLink includes partners and associated partners from all five Group A countries in Lot-4 (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan), six Group B countries in Lot-4 (India, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Indonesia and North Korea), and nine EU partners. The target third countries are experiencing rapid educational, economical and social development and growth.
