School of Life and Health Sciences

UNIC is recognised as one of the leading universities in the subject area of Clinical & Health, ranked among the Top 601-800 universities in the world, #168 in the EU, #7 in Cyprus and Greece (alongside the Technological University of Cyprus, the University of Patras and the Democritus University of Thrace), and #2 in Cyprus for Clinical & Health (alongside the Technological University of Cyprus) by the 2024 Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject.

The School of Life and Health Sciences is devoted to the generation of new understanding and knowledge of the principles of Life and Health. Based on this knowledge, the School attempts to address the various current and future challenges in the area.

Living organisms are complex entities both at their molecular and macroscopic levels, and the complex networks embedded in them regulate diverse functions with significant impact on health and disease. As such the research goal of the School is to bridge a variety of diverse disciplines ranging from molecular biology to health care provision and to generate new knowledge in both basic and applied science. The Faculty of the School of Life and Health Sciences aims at developing an interaction with local and international research institutions as well with the industry to address everyday challenges in the area of Human Health.

Cutting Edge Research

The School employs a multidisciplinary approach in research that effectively utilises the variety of disciplines of the faculty. With the ultimate goal to improve human health, the faculty carries out both basic and applied research encompassing the latest technological advancements in science to address today’s and future societal challenges.

Areas of interest include among others personalised medicine through the use of artificial intelligence and virtual reality tools, isolation and synthesis of bioactive molecules from natural products, biomarkers discovery, design of novel drug delivery systems and advanced nutritional and exercise regimes for chronic diseases.

Research Establishments

Three research establishments are currently operational under the School:

  • Research Centre for Exercise and Nutrition (RECEN)
  • Bioactive Molecules Research Centre (BioMoReC)
  • Non-coding RNA Research Laboratory (ncr-RESLA)

Πραγματοποιήθηκε η ενδιάμεση συνάντηση του ερευνητικού έργου CYTIDES

Την Πέμπτη, 25 Ιανουαρίου 2024 πραγματοποιήθηκε η ενδιάμεση συνάντηση του ερευνητικού έργου CYTIDES (Development and Scale-up Manufacturing of Therapeutic Peptides) στο Πανεπιστήμιο Λευκωσίας. Στη συνάντηση συμμετείχαν το ακαδημαϊκό και ερευνητικό προσωπικό που συμμετείχε στο έργο, τόσο από την εταιρεία Biogena A.P.I. Ltd, όσο και από το Πανεπιστήμιο Λευκωσίας.

School Events

Η Διημερίδα, που τελεί υπό την Αιγίδα του Υπουργού Υγείας κ. Μιχάλη Χατζηπαντέλα, θα πραγματοποιηθεί στις 21-22 Οκτωβρίου στο CINE Studio του Πανεπιστημίου Λευκωσίας.

Το Πανεπιστήμιο Λευκωσίας διαθέτει το πρώτο και μεγαλύτερο προπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα Επιστήμης του Αθλητισμού στην Κύπρο, όπως επίσης μεταπτυχιακό και διδακτορικό πρόγραμμα σπουδών στους τομείς της άσκησης και της φυσικής αγωγής.

Η διαδικτυακή παρουσίαση είναι δωρεάν και ανοικτή για όλους, αλλά απευθύνεται κυρίως σε μαθητές λυκείου, φοιτητές, γονείς και επαγγελματίες του αντικειμένου.
