The University of Nicosia is launching two innovative Data Science degrees

– The emerging Data Science field is expected to create one million new positions in EU Member States by 2025

– The academic programmes have close collaboration with leading industry experts and companies

The University of Nicosia is launching two state-of-the-art academic programmes in the emerging, cutting-edge field of Data Science, to be offered as of Fall Semester 2020.
The two programmes of study are designed to prepare students for employment opportunities in one of the ten most in-demand job specializations globally. Indicatively, the Data Science field is expected to create one million new positions in EU member states by 2025.

Data Science is an emerging scientific field that integrates different disciplines such as computer science, mathematics and statistics, as well as different application-specific domains. Data-driven technologies like machine learning, artificial intelligence, big data analytics, business intelligence and forecasting are applied across a wide range of emerging and established industries.

BSc in Data Science (on campus)
The BSc in Data Science is the first undergraduate Data Science programme in Cyprus and one of the few currently offered in Europe. The degree’s innovative curriculum is designed to meet the demands of a data-driven economy upon graduation. Students will deepen their knowledge in emerging technologies such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, big data, data programming, data privacy and security, learn from renowned faculty and work on real-world big data challenges.

The BSc in Data Science is a four-year programme taught in English.

MSc in Data Science (distance learning)
The MSc in Data Science enables early and mid-career professionals to advance their career by developing a series of capabilities that are highly in-demand in a variety of industries. Teaching and research staff on the programme have expertise in academic and industrial environments. The MSc programme offers the flexibility of distance learning by utilizing modern and traditional e-learning tools. It is worth noting that the University of Nicosia is the first university in the EU to be awarded a 5-Star rating (QS Stars) for Online/Distance Learning.

The MSc in Data Science is a three-semester programme taught in English.

These two new Data Science degrees are offered by the Computer Science Department of the University of Nicosia and supported by the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory of the University.

Both programmes are accredited by the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education (CYQAA).
