Dr. Melpo Iacovidou holds a Doctorate in Quality Management from Middlesex University, UK, an M.B.A. from Adelphi University, USA (with Distinction) and a B.Sc. in Accounting from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, USA. Her undergraduate and graduate studies were funded by the A.G. Leventis Foundation (France) and by academic merit scholarships. Her doctoral studies were funded by the University of Nicosia.

Dr. Iacovidou is an Assistant Professor in the School of Business of the University of Nicosia, and she has also taught in other private and public universities in Cyprus. Currently she is the Director of the Erasmus+ and NEOLAiA European University Alliance Unit. Dr Iacovidou is also the Head of the Industry Liaison Office of UNIC (promoting the link between academia and industry), and a member of the Senate. She has also served as the Director of the Academic Compliance Office of the University of Nicosia, the Associate Head of the Dept. of Accounting, a member of the Internal Quality Assurance Committee, the Internal Quality Assurance Auditor of the University of Nicosia and the Erasmus Institutional Coordinator.

She has successfully coordinated the applications of the University of Nicosia for the Diploma Supplement Label and the ECTS Label, which were awarded to the University, in 2010 (renewed 2013 and 2012 respectively). Dr Iacovidou also served as Bologna Expert (2014) and currently she is a VET (Vocational Education and Training) expert for the Institute for the Management of European Programs for Lifelong Learning, Cyprus (IDEP), dealing mainly with the design a comprehensive process of recognition and validation of non-formal and informal learning.

Dr Iacovidou has also contributed significantly to the development of a tool for assessing and validating Higher Education Institutions for Engagement and Social Responsibility. She is also the Director of Helix, a business incubator Unit affiliated to the University of Nicosia and serves as a Technical Expert for the Ministry of Commerce, Energy, Industry & Tourism for evaluating applications for funding by start-ups and innovating product/services businesses, which provides her with links and access across the industry.

She has also participated in and successfully coordinated various EU funded programs, has published in international journals, and has numerous conference presentations and proceedings. Her research work is also demonstrated through the various funded projects she is involved in. During her academic career, she has also served as editor of proceedings, moderator and rapporteur for various conferences, and served/serves as supervisor of master’s and PhD students.
Dr Iacovidou is currently a member of the Executive Committee of NEOLAiA European University Alliance https://neolaiacampus.eu/ and the Local Project Coordinator for the project.

Her areas of research interest include Quality Management, Quality Assurance & Enhancement in Higher Education, Business Ethics, and Engaged & Responsible Universities.
