Tutorial 1: Christmas Cake

Cooking can be time consuming and frustrating sometimes, especially if you are a busy person. However, that’s not the case, if guidance in creative shots is on offer! In order to get into the festive spirit and students fonder of cooking, UNIC’s Department of Student Affairs, in cooperation with the Culinary Arts-Intercollege, is organising a series of Cooking Snaps.

In this first video broadcasted on Friday, 18 December at 18:00, Lecturer George A. Georgiou will share some festive ideas about Christmas Cake!

Christmas cake is an English tradition that began as plum porridge. A traditional English Christmas Cake is made with rich, moist currants, sultanas and raisins which have been soaked in rum. People ate the porridge on Christmas Eve, using it to line their stomachs after a day of fasting. Soon dried fruit, spices and honey were added to the porridge mixture, and eventually it turned into Christmas pudding.
