Dr Giorgos Charalambous

Dr Giorgos Charalambous is Associate Professor of Political Science in the Department of Politics and Governance, at the university’s School of Law. He works in the fields of comparative European politics and political sociology, particularly specialising in party politics, political ideas and ideologies, mobilisation, political behaviour broadly conceived, and the domestic politics of European integration. Dr Charalambous is currently serving as book reviews editor of The Cyprus Review, as member of the editorial board for the Political Data YearBook of the European Journal of Political Research, as co-coordinator of the Left Radicalism Specialist Group of the Political Studies Association (PSA), as well as member of the Research Advisory Group for the Leventis Foundation Research and Innovation Programme on Cyprus, at the Hellenic Observatory, LSE. He received an MSc in European Public Policy from University College London and a BA (Economic Studies and Government) and PhD (Politics) from the University of Manchester. Before joining the University of Nicosia in 2018, he worked at the University of Cyprus, Peace Research Institute Oslo, Frederick University, European University Cyprus and the University of Manchester. His academic publications include two monographs, three edited volumes, many book chapters and articles, among other journals, in Party PoliticsJournal of Elections, Public Opinion and Parties, European Political Science ReviewMobilisation, Government and Opposition, International Studies Review, Global Society, Contemporary Politics, and South European Society and Politics.
