High school students learned about biology’s contribution to solving crimes

The Human Biology programme of the University of Nicosia’s Life and Health Sciences Department and the OELMEK Biologists Association conducted the first Biology Summer School for high school students, entitled: “The contribution of Biology to crime solving.”

As part of the Summer School, 30 students from various schools in Cyprus had the opportunity to be actively involved in the investigation and attempt to delineate a crime through laboratory and forensic analysis of biological material. As Dr. Kyriakos Felekkis, Head of the Department of Life and Health Sciences stated: “Through a well-organized scenario, learning Biology becomes a game and its applications in dealing with the daily problems of society, become simple and understandable.”
