Vice Rector Constantinos N. Phellas: UNIC fully supports initiatives against bullying regarding homophobia and transphobia at schools

UNIC’s Vice Rector for Faculty and Research, Professor Constantinos Phellas delivered a speech on the occasion of the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in combating homophobic and transphobic bullying at schools in Cyprus. In his welcoming speech, Professor Constantinos Phellas stressed the importance of raising awareness on matters of social justice and diversity at schools and reiterated the university’s support in such initiatives. The event was organized by the Cyprus Youth Board in the framework of HOMBAT, a European programme aiming to contribute to the prevention & combating of homophobia & transphobia (HT) in Greece, Cyprus and Lithuania.

The MOU was signed by the following organisations: Cyprus Youth Board, Cyprus Ministry of Education, ACCEPT -LGBTI Cyprus, University of Nicosia, University of Frederick, Cyprus Family Planning Association, CARDET, Commissioner for Administration and Protection of Human Rights and the Commissioner for Children’s Rights.
