In the context of the Translating Europe Workshop "Meet in Subtitling", organised by the Directorate-General for Translation of the European Commission and the University of Nicosia, the following hands-on subtitling session will be offered.

The session is open to all students, language professionals and all those interested in the field of translation.


 

Dionysios Kapsaskis is a Senior Lecturer in Translation at the University of Roehampton, London. His research extends across the fields of Translation Studies and Comparative Literature, with special focus on Audiovisual Translation and on 20th-Century French literature and theory. Dionysios has published articles on the challenges to the subtitling profession in a changing translation marketplace, and on translation as a form of original writing in the work of Marguerite Yourcenar. He also guest-edited a volume entitled "Translation and authenticity in a global setting" (Synthesis 4, 2012). For the past twenty years, Dionysios has been working professionally as a specialized translator and subtitler into Greek.
