The UNIC Mathematics Programme is organising a lecture titled “Celebrating π day through the Cantor set” by Dr George Chailos.

Abstract:

The famous Cantor set is introduced in a simple manner. It is a compact subset of the unit interval that in spite of having zero length, contains an uncountably infinite number of points. This set is also a prototype of a fractal which has many striking and counterintuitive properties.
