Free Online Info Session – From Concept to Production: How a Spacecraft is Born

Whether to meet immediate needs or simply to satisfy their curiosity, humans have always looked for ways to improve their standards of living, well-being and satisfy their innate instinct of adventure and exploration.
Transitioning from these needs, to conceptualizing designs and solutions in order to manufacture efficient, safe and reliable products has been a long process over many centuries that required a mix of trial and error, educated guess, analytical approach, optimizations, tool generation, and more recently computer aided design, analysis, modeling, simulation, manufacturing and testing processes.

Understanding and controlling mechanical system behavior requires a methodical approach that builds on fundamentals and progresses from understanding statics, kinematics, system dynamics and vibrations, to manufacturing, robotics and control systems – all of these being integral components of Mechanical Engineering and taught at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Nicosia.

Presenter:
Dr. Harry Iordanou

Adjunct Faculty Member
Department of Engineering

The online info session is free and open to general public (non-specialists).
