Dr Niki Christodoulou

Dr Niki Christodoulou is Assistant Professor of Teacher Education and English as a Second/Foreign Language at the Department of Languages and Literature at the University of Nicosia. Niki holds an MA in Education/TESOL from the American University, Washington DC (1987) and an EdD in Teacher Education from the University of Nottingham, UK (2013).  For the last three decades, she has dedicated herself to teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) and English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in the US and in Cyprus respectively. Early in her career, Niki taught ESL at the high school level in the U.S. and was nominated ESL Teacher of the Year in the state of New Jersey. She was also the school coordinator in charge of developing the ESL curriculum for her school district. Since then she has been teaching EFL as well as teacher education courses at the university level in Cyprus. Her doctoral expertise and research interests lie in the areas of Reflection, Reflective Practice, Reflective Mentoring, Reflective Teaching, Teacher Education and Teacher Empowerment in the TESL/TEFL field. Niki is the author of the book Reflective Development through the Care Model: Empowering Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2016). Niki is also a Certified Life Coach, Certified Neuro-Linguistic (NLP) Coach and Certified NLP Practitioner.
