We are strong believers in the effective use of technology to advance education and it is only fitting that the first academic department to fully embrace this vision would be that of Education. Today, the Department of Education at the University of Nicosia is a leader in online education in Europe. Through our Masters programmes in Education Sciences, we are educating thousands of aspiring teachers by using the most up-to-date technologies and learning design theory. The department also supports the UNESCO Chair at UNIC, focused on intercultural dialogue. A degree programme through our department will equip you with the necessary knowledge to pursue a rewarding career as an involved partner in the cognitive development of young children through teaching and learning. You will gain a deep understanding of the fundamental aspects of education and develop the skills needed to be an educator in both the physical as well as the virtual classroom environment.

Βασικός σκοπός της Εκπαιδευτικής Ημερίδας είναι η ανάδειξη σύγχρονων παιδαγωγικών προσεγγίσεων για τον σχεδιασμό περιβαλλόντων μάθησης και διάδρασης στην Προδημοτική και Δημοτική Εκπαίδευση, με έμφαση στη διεπιστημονικότητα και τη δημιουργικότητα ως θεμελιώδεις άξονες της σύγχρονης παιδαγωγικής επιστήμης.
In the session Fiona Maine will explore the value of engaging children in dialogue as part of their learning. Moving beyond the notion that ‘talk’ is valuable for learning, the session will explore how ‘dialogue’ and ‘dialogic teaching’ can support communities of learners to be tolerant, empathetic and inclusive as they engage with the ideas of each other.
