Introducing the UNIC Eagle
As part of our ongoing evolution, UNIC has taken a natural step towards adopting a symbol that epitomises the spirit of the University. One that represents not only our drive for educational innovation but also our transformational history that has seen us grow into a regional academic leader, with presence in 18 other cities worldwide.
In the process of finding the symbol that best represents the UNIC spirit and values, we were inspired by the Bonelli’s Eagle, the only indigenous species of eagle found in Cyprus, and acknowledged master of its skies.
With its imposing and regal presence, this rare and important bird encapsulates our enduring THINK BIG maxim. Synonymous with the traits that the eagle invokes, we strive to empower our international community of students, alumni, faculty and staff to spread their wings, soar to new heights, and tackle the challenges that come their way with confidence, charisma and conviction.
It was in this vein that the University’s top administrative body, the Council, adopted the Eagle as UNIC’s official mascot. UNIC Eagles have since come to life across our campus and in our communications, as well as through our intercollegiate athletics.
