Disruptive Technologies in a Changing Security Environment: The Black Sea and Eastern Mediterranean
The Department of Politics and Governance of the University of Nicosia successfully completed the webinar titled “Disruptive Technologies in a Changing Security Environment: The Black Sea and Eastern Mediterranean”, held on Thursday, 13 November 2025 and organised by the MA in International Relations and Eastern Mediterranean Studies, E-Learning/Distance Learning (Online) programme.
The session focused on a key question: How are strategic and intelligence priorities evolving to confront hybrid threats across the Black Sea and Eastern Mediterranean? The speakers examined the influence of disruptive technologies on regional security dynamics and highlighted how hybrid threats and rapid technological change are reshaping strategic behaviour in two of today’s most volatile regions.
The webinar featured presentations by distinguished academics of the Department of Politics and Governance of the University of Nicosia, Dr Constantinos Adamides, Head of Department, and Dr. Petros Petrikkos, Adjunct Faculty Member. The session was moderated by Dr Michalis Kontos, Associate Professor of the Department of Politics and Governance and Programme Coordinator of the MA in International Relations and Eastern Mediterranean Studies.
A discussion followed the presentations, giving participants the opportunity to exchange views on the evolving security environment of the Eastern Mediterranean and neighbouring regions.
