The School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) Newsletter

Dear Readers,

The summer has officially arrived and I am delighted to introduce to you the fourth edition of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences Newsletter. Colleagues across our School have sent contributions featuring research and projects, publications, conferences and events, and achievements of faculty and students of our School during the past academic year.

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences is a community comprised of a diverse body of academic disciplines. As a multi-disciplinary School, showcasing the work conducted within the various Departments can stimulate synergies and support the formulation of cross-disciplinary research collaborations.

During the academic year 2021–2022 we welcomed students back to our classes and vibrant university campus, giving us a much needed sense of returning to normality. Challenges were still present, as we tried to navigate this new reality whilst the COVID-19 pandemic was (and still is) ongoing. Despite the challenges, I am proud to say that we have achieved a lot and have arrived at the end of a successful year for our School.

As always, the Editorial Committee and I are grateful to all colleagues who have taken the time to put in writing their projects, publications, activities and achievements to be disseminated via our Newsletter. As you read this issue I hope that you, like myself, will be inspired by featured colleagues’ scholarly activities and their continuous pursuit of academic excellence. I hope that you find the material interesting and stimulating. The Editorial Committee and I look forward to receiving your submissions for future editions of the SHSS Newsletter so that the work conducted by our diverse and multidisciplinary School community is showcased and communicated to the wider academic community.

With best wishes,
Professor Ioulia Papageorgi
