Dr Evdokia Pittas

Evdokia Pittas serves as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Education, University of Nicosia. She holds a Doctoral Degree in Education from the University of Oxford, where she completed her DPhil under the guidance of Professor Terezinha Nunes, focusing on early literacy. She completed her postgraduate studies in Special Education at Brunel University. Her research interests include the development and validation of educational interventions and assessments through experimental studies. She currently participates as a Beneficiary (partner) on a HORIZON-Europe-funded project aiming to adapt, implement and assess the effectiveness and efficiency of a promising North American educational approach for kindergarten in six European countries (Luxembourg, Belgium, France, Italy, Germany, Cyprus and Switzerland). The project, entitled “Early Identification and Remediation of Literacy, Numeracy, and Socio-Emotional Difficulties in Kindergarten: An Examination of the Efficacy of a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS-K),” is supported by the European Commission under Horizon-RIA-CL2-2023-TRANSFORMATIONS-01-05 (Award number: 101132586). Additionally, she serves as the Management Committee member representing Cyprus on the COST Action “CLIL Network for Languages in Education: Towards Bi- and Multilingual Disciplinary Literacies” (CLILNetLE) CA21114. She was also the Lead Guest Editor for the special issue “The post-COVID-19 psychological and educational effects on the home and school lives of students with developmental disabilities,” published in the Research in Developmental Disabilities (RiDD) journal in 2024. Her research has been featured in international peer-reviewed journals, and she regularly participates in national and international conferences.
