Speaker:
Dr Mertkan Hamit

Dr Mertkan Hamit is an economist and scholar whose work focuses on the political economy of governance, conflict, and institutional reform, with particular emphasis on the Turkish Cypriot economy. He holds a PhD from the University of East London, an MA in Southeast European Studies from the University of Athens, and a BA in Economics from Marmara University. Dr. Hamit currently collaborates with international organisations, including serving as a consultant with the World Bank, working on macroeconomic policy, data governance, labour markets, and poverty, with a particular focus on development constraints.
