e-Learning and Pedagogical Support at UNIC
The e-Learning and Pedagogical Support Unit (ePSU) is dedicated to the support of all faculty members in educational and pedagogical aspects of teaching, for conventional (face-to-face) and distance learning (DL) courses. It promotes and encourages innovation and excellence in teaching, learning and assessment to ensure quality and consistency in the ways students are engaged and equipped for life-long learning and employability in the 21st century. It does that through a series of training and development activities offered to faculty members on a regular basis and through one-to-one consultation with faculty members.
The unit offers workshops introducing faculty members to general educational concepts and theories and supporting continuous pedagogical development of the academic and other teaching staff at university level. The ePSU delivers Educational Conferences, produce and disseminates research activities that provide additional educational resources for DL faculty members. Furthermore, the ePSU co-organizes the “Faculty Professional Development Seminar on Teaching and Learning Theory and Practice,” a 36-hour professional development seminar that leads to a Certificate, in the areas of contemporary teaching methods, new technologies in learning and online education.
The ePSU is, also, responsible for developing the University’s Pedagogical and e-Learning Strategy and translating that into concrete applicable activities, by developing innovative, advanced online teaching-and-learning pedagogical methodologies and introducing these methodologies to faculty members for application in their courses. Furthermore, the unit offers tailored e-learning support services to faculty for the development of their course material. The ePSU can help faculty in the pedagogical development of a new course or the improvement of an existing course, or academic program. Such projects may involve but are not limited to interactive audio and video, multimedia and virtual reality course applications.
