Scholarship Competition | Me and the Machine

The Department of Design and Multimedia (BA in Fine Art),and the Admissions Department of the University of Nicosia announce the award of 3 scholarships (25%) on the tuition fees of the first academic year for students who enter the competition with the thematic direction "Me and the Machine".
All submitted artworks will be exhibited in the UNIC BA in Fine Art building.
We invite applicants to explore the shifting relationship between human agency and mechanical or digital systems. Applicants may consider topics such as collaboration with algorithms, the body extended through technology, industrial heritage, or personal encounters with everyday devices. Any conceptual or formal interpretation is welcome, provided the work addresses how the self-negotiates itself in the presence of the machine.
To be eligible for the "Me and the Machine" Art Scholarship Competition, applicants must apply to the BA in Fine Art for the Spring 2026 intake: BA in Fine Art
Submission Guidelines
- Medium: Painting, drawing, print, sculpture, installation, photography, video, performance documentation, digital or interactive works, sound, or mixed media
- Portfolio submitted in PDF format: Up to 5 finished pieces plus one process sketchbook or storyboard (PDF or JPG, 100 MB total)
- Statement: 200-500 words describing concept, materials, and relevance to the theme
- File naming convention: Lastname_Firstname_Title_Number
- Language: English
- Originality: Work must be created after 1 January 2025 and be entirely the applicant's own
Scholarship Terms:
- The scholarship is open to full-time new undergraduate students.
- In the event of securing two (2) or more scholarships, the scholarship with the highest tuition fee reduction rate applies.
- All applications must be submitted by 31 January 2026.
