Assistant Professor at the School of Veterinary Medicine and Head of the Department of Veterinary Medicine Manos Vlasiou has been appointed as Management Committee Member (Cyprus Representative) to the COST Action CA22109: Medicinal Plants for Animal Health Care: Translating Tradition into Modern Veterinary Medicine (MedPlants4Vet) for the period 2025-2027.
The project, which started in 2023 and will run until 2027, is dedicated to translating traditional knowledge of medicinal plants into modern veterinary medicine. Specifically, it aims to collect and organise information on the traditional use of medicinal plants for animal health in various countries and scientifically evaluate the safety and efficacy of these remedies.
MedPlants4Vet brings together over 350 experts from more than 45 countries and various disciplines, who are helping create a common scientific definition and inclusion criteria for the term ‘traditional veterinary use’, as well as establish the basis for a legal framework at the EU level.
