The mainstreaming of edge technologies that is observed during the last decade is having a massive impact on the labour market and the type of skills needed in the economy and the society. Moreover, effective digitalization and the smart use of ICT are critical determinants of successful innovation, competitiveness and growth and offer several opportunities for SMEs to become resilient and also strengthen their market position. Within this framework, the Block4SME project aims to enhance the key edge technology competences of SMEs professionals, through the delivery of an interactive and engaging training package. Participants (trainees) will be introduced to new digital ways of implementing the structure of the supply chain processes for their business.
The European Digital Strategy (Technology that works for people-Blockchain) reveals the importance of adopting edge technological innovations like blockchain technology. The innovation of the Block4SME project lies exactly on the identification of the relevant gaps for SMEs and the raising of awareness regarding the application of the blockchain technology towards a more digitized environment for SMEs; this will open many opportunities to introduce innovations in their processes, products or organizational aspects.
In short, the Block4SME project identifies the need of SMEs staff to understand and effectively use the edge technologies as tools in their business processes and offers the training tools to implement this vocational training. The adoption of the distributed ledger technologies (i.e., blockchain) in their everyday practice, will boost the digital transformation of the targeted SMEs, while also turning them into potential early adopters of other edge technologies as well.
