Executive Summary:
A Cypriot Transatlantic Identity and Policy orientation should be both directly associated issues that will identify Cyprus’ future and partnership with NATO. Joining the PfP is an option. And it is real one; a strategic and a tactical one. Negotiating the Partnership for Peace is a task that holds many variables to be discussed and/or negotiated. It is directly linked with Cyprus’ Foreign and Security Policies but also trade, communication and transportation affairs. A Transatlantic identity is a bold step forward. It is an opportunity to introduce a new Cyprus to the wider field of primary international security and strategic related affairs, internationally. This event will discuss, the pros and cons of an PfP application and the correlation between politics and business affairs at a possible PfP application scenario.
Biography:
Dr. Marios-Panagiotis Efthymiopoulos is the Founder and CEO of Strategy International (www.strategyinterantional.org). A think tank, non for profit, created in Thessaloniki Greece in 2008 in the service of global education, exchange knowledge and consulting in political, economic & strategic affairs.
Dr. Efthymiopoulos held a variety of international, academic and professional positions, namely at the Center for Transatlantic Relations, SAIS, Johns Hopkins University in Washington DC, George Washington University, Business School, EU Center for Excellence, Washington DC, at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, Washington DC USA, Department of Social and Political Sciences, University Of Cyprus, Nicosia Cyprus. A constant invited Professor and Professional Dr. Efthymiopoulos presents his views analyzes but also consultations for the Hellenic Homeland Security Police, Joint War College of Greece, NATO Maritime Interdiction Operation and Training Center (NMIOTC), the UN and NATO training corps and the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Thessaloniki Greece. An appointed negotiator in International Organization such as the NATO Defense College (NADEFCOL) were also attended a senior course in Strategic Affairs in Rome, Italy., appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece, also worked as Public Relations and Mediator for the UN and in Specific for the Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Biotechnology and Biosafety section as well as a Political/Financial Analyst, projector, at the County of Cook Treasurer’s Office in Chicago Illinois USA that deals with over 9 Billion $ of Assets/taxes per annum.
Education:
A PhD from the University of Crete, In International Strategic and Business Affairs from the Department of Social Studies in Crete Greece, with a “Cum Laude” A Masters Degree from the University of Vienna -The Diplomatic Academy of Vienna-in Advanced International Studies, Negotiations and Strategic Affairs (MAIS) (2002-2003), Vienna Austria. Prior he concluded the first of the two years of the Viennese program at the LSE following and concluding the first year (MSc) in Russian and Post-Soviet Studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), London, UK, (2001-2002). He holds a BA (Hons) in International Relations & Politics by the University of Lincolnshire and Humberside, (1998-2001), Lincoln, UK.
