The Department of Computer Science of the University of Nicosia invites you to the Info Session titled: Artificial Intelligence Opportunities, Challenges and Studies on Saturday, 28 March 2026 between 10:00 – 12:00 at Newton Amphitheatre, University of Nicosia. Registrations begin at 9:45.
From self-driving cars to smart homes, to medical diagnosis and drug discovery, Artificial Intelligence is transforming the way we live, work, and interact with our world. How does ChatGPT and other ground-breaking technologies work? How does YouTube decide which videos to recommend? What products do our customers buy together? How can the performance of a football or basketball team be improved by analysing data from previous games? In this session, you will explore the exciting world of AI and Data Science and discover a wide range of career paths in this fast-growing field. Whether you are a high school student passionate about technology or simply curious about the future, this event is tailored for you.
What to expect:
- An accessible introduction to core AI and machine learning concepts, with real examples from generative AI, recommender systems, and sports analytics.
- A guided look at how data moves from collection and cleaning to modeling and responsible deployment, including key ideas in data governance and ethics.
- A live, interactive activity: together with the audience, we will train a simple machine learning model to see how machine perceive and interact with their immediate environment.
- A presentation of the Department of Computer Science and its unique BSc in Data Science program, boasting an innovative curriculum on cutting-edge topics in AI, Big Data, and Data Governance, along with hands-on learning and industry engagement.

This Info Session is addressed to students of public and private High Schools as well as Technical Schools.
