“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

The UNIC Law Clinic supports ELSA Day celebration (ELSA stands for the European Law Student Association, which is the biggest Law students organization across Europe) and co-organizes a conference on “The right to education”, which will take place at the UNESCO Amphitheatre at 19:00.

Over 200 conferences are taking place on the same day throughout Europe, as Law Students across Europe with the support of their faculty organize an event on a topic that is presented relevant to the promotion of human rights education.

This year’s topic is on the right to education, which is a fundamental human right. As part of the event, the following topics will be presented:

1) The right to education as a fundamental human right;
2) The right to education under the CRC, with particular reference to Cyprus;
3) Migrants and the right to education.

Opening remarks will be given by the Vice President of Student Services at the University of Nicosia, Dr Alexandros Antonaras, and the President and Vice-President of ELSA Cyprus and the President of the Youth Parliament.

ELSA brings together 300 local groups across Europe and 44 national groups, making up a multi-cultural and pan-European group of Law Students. The UNIC Law Clinic has been a strong supporter of the national organization during the last years and has supported the establishment of a local ELSA group, being the first such group that was established in a Cypriot University.
