The Department of Languages and Literature is pleased to announce the online launch of the Book: AI-Powered Language Teaching: Transforming the Future of TESOL (Palgrave Macmillan) authored by Dr Christine Savvidou.

This book examines the pedagogical, ethical, and institutional implications of generative artificial intelligence in second language education. It situates emerging AI technologies within the historical development of TESOL methodologies and offers a research-informed framework for responsible and sustainable integration. Key themes include data privacy, algorithmic bias, equity, academic integrity, and the evolving role of the language teacher in AI-enhanced classrooms.

The event will take place online on Thursday, 23 April at 7:00 PM. It will feature a presentation by the author, followed by a guest contribution from Dr Georgios P. Georgiou, who will discuss the key features university professors use to distinguish AI-generated text as well as ethical use of AI, concluding with an open discussion.

All are welcome to join this timely discussion on the future of language education.
