
Dr Irene Drymiotou

Irene Drymiotou is a researcher and teaching staff member at UNIC, specialising in teacher education and professional development in science education since 2024. Irene holds a double Ph.D. degree in Science Education, an MA in Learning in Natural Sciences, an MA in ICT in Education and a bachelor’s in Primary Education. Her research focuses on nurturing students’ interest in science and STEM careers through educational materials that promote the development of 21st century skills within socio-scientific issues.
Since 2014, Irene has worked on European-funded Horizon 2020 and Erasmus + projects in academic and research institutions (e.g. the University of Cyprus, GrantXpert Consulting LTD, CARDET). At UNIC she is currently working on the Nature-Based Solutions Teacher Academy Project and the Science Education through Novel Strategies for Environmental Sustainability Project (SENSES).
Irene is also an external educator of the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute, a strand coordinator for the European Science Education Research Association (ESERA) and a former International Committee member of the National Association of Research in Science Teaching (NARST).
