Admissions and Entry Requirements

Admission at UNIC Athens is merit based and comparative. We assess demonstrable academic strength and preparedness for demanding university study. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.

  • Meeting legal minimum requirements makes you eligible to be considered.
  • Eligibility does not guarantee admission.
  • Programmes vary in competitiveness; several are more competitive due to the nature of the program and capacity.
  • Admissions thresholds are not fixed in advance. They reflect the level reached by the strongest candidates in each cycle.

Undergraduate Εligibility

(Greek legal minimum requirements)

Under the Greek legal framework, applicants may be eligible to apply if they hold:

  • A recognized General Lyceum, Vocational Lyceum High School Leaving Certificate, or equivalent High School Leaving Certificate from a recognized foreign school in Greece at National Qualifications Framework level 4.
  • Panhellenic results that meet the nationally defined minimum admission basis as set each year by the Ministry of Education.
  • An international or foreign secondary school leaving credential that confers eligibility for higher education in the country where it was earned, subject to Greek recognition rules.

Note: These are legal minimums establishing eligibility only. Admission decisions are made through comparative evaluation and depend on available places.

Regulatory note: Provisions are set by Greek law and may change. For high school graduates prior to the 2021-22 school year, and for applicants who already hold a bachelor’s degree, the selection and admission terms of the University of Nicosia apply.

How We Select

Admission decisions consider the overall academic profile, as appropriate for each candidate, given their country of origin:

  1. Panhellenic results.
  2. National examinations in foreign countries
  3. International examinations, such as the IB Diploma or A Levels
  4. Academic record, including grades and the rigor of subjects undertaken
  5. Programme specific requirements such as interviews

Programmes with Higher Demand

Several programmes are more competitive due to limited capacity and higher entry expectations. Early application is recommended.

Medical School

The Medical School follows separate admissions policies and procedures. For entry requirements, please visit the Admissions section of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme page.
