Announcement by the Ministry of Health on the administration of a booster/4th dose through appointment or through walk-in vaccination centres

Following a decision by the Council of Ministers, dated 22 March 2022, the Ministry of Health informs that as of today, 20 April 2022, beneficiaries eligible to receive the booster/4th dose will be able to do so through a vaccination appointment or through the walk-in vaccination centres in operation in all districts.

As of tomorrow, 20 April 2022, health professionals will also be eligible to receive the booster/4th dose, regardless of age, provided that five (5) months have elapsed since receiving a booster/3rd dose.

  • For the administration of the booster/4th dose an identification document (identity card, passport) and permit of employment must be provided.
  • The administration of the booster/4th dose of a vaccine is optional.

It is reminded that the administration of the booster/4th dose continues:

  • for persons over 70 years of age,
  • for residents or employees in Senior People’s homes or closed structures, regardless of age
  • for immunodeficient and immunosuppressed patients*,

provided that the period of five (5) months after receiving the 3rd dose has elapsed.

Immunodeficient and immunosuppressed patients can visit the walk-in vaccination centres by presenting a medical certificate from a Specialist Doctor, or can ask for the arrangement of a vaccination appointment through their treating doctor, by sending a request to the email address: [email protected]

*Immunosuppressed patients:

  • Under active treatment for solid tumours and haematological malignancies
  • With a history of solid organ transplantation receiving immunosuppressive therapy
  • With a history of transplantation of primary haematopoietic organs receiving immunosuppressive therapy
  • With hereditary immunodeficiency
  • With HIV Infection/AIDS
  • Under immunosuppressive therapy including biological agents
  • Regarding cortisone intake, this concerns patients who have received or are receiving a total dose >10 mg prednisone/day (=8 mg of methylpregnisolone) for one (1) month in the last six months.
  • With renal insufficiency undergoing haemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis.

The administration of the booster/4th dose of a vaccine is optional.

Operating hours of walk-in vaccination centres

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Saturday: 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
