Panagiota Nakou is a Lecturer in Medical Ethics at the University of Nicosia Medical School.

Dr Nakou holds a PhD in Bioethics and Medical Jurisprudence and a Master’s degree in Healthcare Ethics & Law from the Department of Law at the University of Manchester, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Dental Surgery (DipDS) from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. She also obtained a PGCert in Restorative Dental Practice from the UCL Eastman Dental Institute. Since 2011, she has been practising dentistry in the UK, both within the NHS and privately.

Her ongoing research primarily focuses on women’s reproductive autonomy and decision-making regarding reproductive technologies. Her specific research areas include reproductive ethics, genetic ethics, and research ethics. She is particularly interested in new reproductive genetic and genetic engineering technologies, as well as the history of science and scientific change. Her published works address topics such as reproductive choice, normative biases in empirical research, and ethical considerations in genetic technologies.
