Admission Requirements
6 Year Undergraduate Entry – Doctor of Medicine (MD)
1. High School Leaving Certificate
High School Leaving Certificate with 90% overall score (Ί8/20 overall in the Greek/Cypriot High School Leaving Certificate), to include similar grades in Biology and one of either Chemistry, Physics or Maths.
Or: GCE A’ Levels with grades ABB, to include Biology and one of either Chemistry, Physics or Maths, and one more subject.
Or: International Baccalaureate with 32 overall and a combined score of 16 at Higher Level, to include Biology and at least one of either Chemistry, Physics or Maths.
Candidates are reviewed holistically, so all grades will be reviewed including in Chemistry, Physics and Maths to ensure your knowledge and achievement in these areas meets the demands of our curriculum.
The Medical School may also consider applicants from other education systems. For any other qualifications please contact us so we can assess you eligibility.
Candidates who hold a Bachelor’s Degree in a field relevant to Medicine can be considered for admission to the first year of the course.
2. English Language Requirements:
6.5 overall in the IELTS (with 6.5 in writing and a minimum of 6.0 in all other elements),
Or: 79 in TOEFL iBT
Or: grade 5 in the GCSE (or B with the old grading system),
Or: a score of 5 in English in the International Baccalaureate Standard Level (SL),
Or: a score of 8 in English in the European Baccalaureate.
Students whose native language is English and who originate from the UK, Ireland, USA, Australia and New Zealand, are exempt from this requirement.
Students from English speaking provinces in Canada are required to provide an official letter from their high school that confirms that the language of instruction was English. Otherwise, they are required to provide proof of their English proficiency as per our admissions requirements.
3. An online Interview
The objective of the interview is to establish whether you have the appropriate skills and attributes to complete the course successfully and to practise medicine professionally.
Applicants need to demonstrate through volunteer experience that they have an understanding of the biological, psychological and social dimensions of medicine to support their application displaying suitability for a career in medicine.
You will need to meet academic and non-academic conditions or requirements before enrolment, and a conditional offer may not be converted to an unconditional offer solely based on meeting minimum grade requirements. The Admissions Committee reviews applicants holistically throughout the Admissions process.
*Applicants from accredited Medical Schools, in good academic standing can be considered for transfer into the second or third year of the UNIC Doctor of Medicine programme. This opportunity will be based on a thorough review of the completed courses by an Academic Panel.

Graduate Entry – Doctor of Medicine Degree (MD)
- Academic Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree from any field with at least a 2.2 class honours or equivalent GPA.
PLUS
Entrance Examination
MCAT: 498 minimum score
Or
GAMSAT: 55 minimum score (must have a minimum of 50 in all sections)
Or
UCAT: 2500 overall score with a minimum of 500 in each section, and a situational judgment score within Bands 1-3. Note that UCAT is accepted ONLY for those who hold a Bachelor of Science degree in the Life Sciences or Biomedical Sciences with at least a UK 2.2 class honours or equivalent GPA. Please contact us if you wish to inquire about your eligibility.
Applicants from Israel can provide evidence of having the Tel Aviv University / Yeda exam with minimum overall score of 300 in place of the MCAT or GAMSAT requirement.

Applicants with an EU/EEA passport and who have graduated from an English-speaking university in one of the above six countries, but who are not from that country, may be able to submit the English language proficiency certificate used when enrolling in that university – our Admissions team can provide further advice on this. Third country nationals will be required to submit evidence of English language proficiency in line with the above requirements as part of the student visa process, regardless of the language of instruction of their first degree.
- An online Interview

MSc in Family Medicine
1. A medical degree granted by an institution recognised in the country where it is offered.
2. Evidence of current registration with the relevant medical council.
3. You must be involved in clinical practice throughout the duration of your enrolment in the programme.
4. Evidence of English proficiency is required as follows:

Or: 79 in TOEFL iBT
Or: grade 5 in the GCSE (or B with the old grading system),
Or: a score of 5 in English in the International Baccalaureate Standard Level (SL),
Or: a score of 8 in English in the European Baccalaureate.
Students whose native language is English and who originate from the UK, Ireland, USA, Australia, New Zealand and Canada (provided that language of instruction at school/ undergraduate/ postgraduate level was English), are exempt from this requirement. Third country nationals who have completed a degree, taught in English, in any of the aforementioned countries, will be required to submit evidence of English language certification as submitted for admission to that degree, to be exempt from the above.
5. Two (2) professional reference letters.
6. An online Interview, which assesses your professional ability and commitment, empathy, initiative and resilience, communication skills, organisational and problem-solving skills, and teamwork.
Master of Public Health (MPH)
1.A Bachelor’s degree from an institution recognised in the country where it operates. A degree in medicine, health sciences, biological sciences, social sciences or environmental sciences is an advantage.
2.One reference letter: Either academic or professional.
3. English Language Requirements:

Or: 79 in TOEFL iBT
Or: grade 5 in the GCSE (or B with the old grading system),
Or: a score of 5 in English in the International Baccalaureate Standard Level (SL),
Or: a score of 8 in English in the European Baccalaureate.
Students whose native language is English and who originate from the UK, Ireland, USA, Australia, New Zealand and Canada (provided that language of instruction at school/ undergraduate/ postgraduate level was English), are exempt from this requirement. 4. A personal statement describing (i) your past educational, professional, or other experience with a focus on that which is relevant to Public Health (if any); (ii) how this degree would support your personal or professional aspirations; and (iii) your experience and ability to work independently as well as in a team, to prioritise tasks, and to track the progress of your work in order to complete the educational requirements of this Distance Learning degree. (maximum 800 words)”
PhD in Medical Sciences
Eligible Candidates should hold (or hold by the time that the Programme is expected to commence) a recognised degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent allowing entry to a Master’s Degree plus a Master’s degree or a Doctor of Medicine degree (e.g., MBBS or MD degree). An applicant may be admitted to the Programme subject to completing selected courses offered by the Department, if so decided by the Department Postgraduate Programmes Committee (DPPC). Under exceptional cases, a PhD applicant who does not hold a Masters’ Degree may be considered for admission to the PhD Programme.

- Copies of the applicant’s Bachelor and/or Masters or MBBS or MD or equivalent qualification(s)/degree(s) – the application can be assessed with scanned copies, but a certified true copy must be provided prior to enrolment.
- Copies of the applicant’s transcript(s) – the application can be assessed with scanned copies, but a certified true copy must be provided prior to enrolment.
- Proof of English language proficiency such as IELTS with a score of 7 overall and with a minimum score of 7 in writing or TOEFL iBT with a score of 94 overall and a minimum score of 27 in Writing. Other internationally recognized English language qualifications might be considered upon review. Students from the UK, Ireland USA, Canada (from English speaking provinces), Australia and New Zealand are exempted from the English language requirement.
- Two reference letters, of which at least one should be from an academic.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- A Research Proposal outlining the research problem, presenting the literature review and explaining the research methodology to be followed. The Admissions Office can provide the relevant PhD Proposal Template. The Research Proposal should be signed by the Main Supervisor which must be a faculty member of the Medical School and should be a maximum of 4-5 pages.
