Profile

Elena Critselis is an Associate Professor in Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Nicosia Medical School.

Dr Critselis holds a BSc in Nutritional Sciences from Cornell University, a Master of Public Health with a dual concentration in Chronic Disease Epidemiology and Global Health from Yale University School of Public Health, and a PhD in Epidemiology – Nutrition from Harokopio University.

Building on integrated epidemiological approaches, Dr Critselis’ research interests focus on elucidating the lifestyle determinants for the optimal prevention and management of chronic age-related non-communicable diseases, including cancers, cardiovascular diseases, and ageing. In addition, her interests encompass the propagation of “bench-to-bedside” research methodological approaches (including meta-analytic (Mendelian randomization), evidence level grading, and cost-effectiveness analytic approaches) for optimizing the translational potential of related promising basic research and/or state-of-the-art –omics findings into clinical and public health practice.
