Professor Adonis Ioannides re-elected Dean of Medical School
In November 2025, Professor Adonis Ioannides was re-elected unopposed as Dean of the UNIC Medical School, a position he has held since 2022.
Professor Ioannides earned his MBChB with honours from the University of Manchester and subsequently received a PhD in Developmental Biology from University College London, UCL.
Throughout his career at UNIC, he has also held the role of Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and previously served as Course Director of the MBBS programme.
Professor Ioannides’ research focuses on the developmental and genetic basis of congenital malformations, with particular emphasis on foregut and tracheo‑oesophageal development and malformations. His work spans both fundamental developmental biology (including embryonic foregut patterning) and clinical genetics, contributing to our understanding of birth defects and congenital disorders
