Four members of the Medical School have been appointed to national bioethics committees, highlighting their roles in guiding ethical standards in research and science in Cyprus.
Dr Nicoletta Nicolaou has been serving as a member of the Review Bioethics Committee for Biomedical Research and Clinical Trials on Medicinal Products of Human Use since December 2024, with her term lasting three years.
Dr Annita Achilleos has been appointed to the National Committee for the Protection of Animals Used for Scientific Purposes, with her term having begun in December 2024 and continuing for three years.
Additionally, Professor Father Georgios Samoutis and Dr Afroditi Elisseou have been members of the Cyprus National Bioethics Committee since September 2023, also appointed for a three-year term. These committees are pivotal in formulating and guiding bioethical standards and practices across various fields of research.
