With the beginning of the new academic year the Medical School has resumed its free cervical cancer screening programme for domestic workers in Cyprus. The programme is executed in collaboration with the Filipino Association Obreras Empowered and with the support of the Histopathology and Cytology Medical Centre (Dr Doros Lysiotis) in Nicosia.
The first screening for this season took place on Sunday 22 September 2019 at the Medical School. Twenty Filipina women were examined by the Medical School’s Clinical Associate Professor for Obstetrics and Gynaecology Dr Savvas Argyrides.
The Medical School plans to perform the screenings once a month for as many domestic workers as possible.
