UNIC Launches Spring 2026 Edition of Its Flagship Mastering Web3 MOOC Featuring Industry-Led Sessions and Two Learning Tracks

The Spring 2026 edition features industry-led guest sessions with Ledger and Ripple, alongside eligibility-based partner benefits for students, including UNIC-engraved Ledger Flex wallets and Ripple-funded scholarships for the MSc in Blockchain and Digital Currency.

University of Nicosia’s flagship Mastering Web3 MOOC returns in Spring 2026, starting on 9 February, featuring a refreshed structure, expanded curriculum, and industry-led sessions by Ledger and Ripple. The course is offered through two learning tracks: a free “Introductory Track” (Weeks 1–8) and an “Advanced Track” (Weeks 1–12).

Since its launch in 2014, the Mastering Web3 MOOC has attracted more than 150,000 learners from over 120 countries, making it one of the largest university-led Web3 learning initiatives worldwide. The course provides an academically structured introduction to blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies, and NFTs, combining faculty-led teaching with integrated industry-led sessions. It is delivered fully online and designed to support flexible, self-paced learning.

The Mastering Web3 MOOC is delivered by UNIC’s faculty, including Prof. George Giaglis and Dr Apostolos Kourtis, with contributions from leading industry experts such as Garrick Hileman, Jeff Bandman, and Punk6529. Industry-led sessions by Ledger and Ripple are embedded throughout the curriculum and focus on digital wallet security and self-custody, stablecoin and payments infrastructure, regulation, NFT standards, provenance, and secure digital ownership.

The course is structured around two learning tracks:

Free Introductory Track (Weeks 1–8)

  • Access to the Web3 core curriculum, covering blockchain and Web3 foundations, Bitcoin and Ethereum, consensus models, programmable blockchains, digital wallets and security, decentralised finance (DeFi), stablecoins, and digital assets
  • Weekly quizzes, live Q&A sessions and Final Exam
  • PDF Certificate of Completion in Introduction to Web3
  • Access to course materials throughout the course
  • Global student community access

Advanced Track (Weeks 1–12) for €199

For learners seeking blockchain-verifiable certification, industry benefits, and academic progression:

  • Full 12-week access to the Web3 curriculum, including advanced modules on NFTs and digital ownership, crypto regulation and policy, blockchain scaling mechanisms, and emerging Web3 trends, including AI and IoT
