Niki combines professional and research expertise having worked for almost 20 years (1990-2007) in the academic and medical Greek publishing sector. As a publishing and editorial manager, she developed, in collaboration with academics and scientists, book lists on a variety of subjects ranging from medicine to economics, education, history, printing and typography, and supervised the design of books for different readers and uses. As a researcher, her interests concentrate on the history of Greek printing, book design and typography and print culture in Cyprus. She is a member of a number of learned and academic societies in the UK, Greece, Cyprus and Germany.

Niki is a Board Member of the Institute for the Study of Typography & Visual Communication (ISTVC) and was recently accepted as a member to the International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD), the leading professional body in Europe, after a review of her life-long contribution to the study and teaching of typography. Her work so far is well documented in academic publications, proceedings, presentations at international conferences and in popular media. She joined the ranks of the University of Nicosia in 2009 with the view to educate graphic designers with strong design thinking and typographic skills able to work in a fluctuating and highly-competitive market. In her teaching she chooses to challenge students through their participation in international competitions (ISTD Student Assessment, European Design Competition, Penguin Random House Student Design Awards) which broaden their perspective of the design world, expose them to different cultures, markets and societal challenges, and enable them to develop as reflective practitioners and critical thinkers. Niki has served for five years (2011-2016) as the Erasmus Coordinator of the Department of Design & Multimedia.
