Talk by Nobel Peace Prize Nominee

The Medical School is pleased to host a talk by Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish, a Palestinian physician and internationally recognized human rights campaigner and inspirational peace activist, at 6:30 pm on Thursday, 4 April in the Medical Library.

Dr. Abuelaish is devoted to advancing health and education opportunities for women and girls in the Middle East, through his own research and by founding a charitable organisation, The Daughters of Life Foundation. He has been nominated three years running for the Nobel Peace Prize, while US President Obama referred to him as an example of strength and reconciliation in a speech on a vision for peace in the Middle East.

Dr. Abuelaish studied at the Institute of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the University of London and also worked at our partner hospital in Israel, the Sheba Medical Center. He currently teaches at the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health and looks forward to meeting our medical students, faculty and staff.
