About SED
This two–day event sets out to explore the relationship between the field of socially engaged design* and the development of the urban environment in Cyprus.

Twelve international creative practitioners and thinkers will come together to share their knowledge, theories and ideas, establishing a dialogue between the different communities involved in and affected by changes in the urban fabric in Cyprus.

The conference appeals to creative practitioners, architects, academics, urban planners and to the communities that work with and influence urban planning but also to the communities that are affected by changes in the Cypriot cityscape.

* We understand socially engaged design to be a field of design that engages with current social issues. Reaching beyond solely designing or reshaping public services and policies, its mission is to contribute in a positive manner towards the improvement of social structures and interactions and plan for future societal challenges. Its implementation is participatory and requires in-depth audience engagement in all its stages; from research through to design, production and evaluation.
