University of Nicosia Dance Programme is thrilled to announce that we will be running a workshop with Milena Ugren Koulas, a highly esteemed Cyprus based dancer and choreographer whose work has been performed in Cyprus, Croatia, Czech Republic, Poland, Italy, Greece, Sweden, Germany, France, Serbia, Spain, and Luxembourg and selected for Aerowaves network in 2015. Milena graduated from Codarts academy in Rotterdam, Netherlands. In 2007 the piece “While Walking” received a prize from New Europe Festival in Prague, Czech Republic. In 2012 choreography “House of Heaven II” was nominated in International Choreographic Competitions in Hanover and “No-Ballet” in Ludwigshaven, Germany. Her piece “Manlike” has been selected as one of the Aerowaves priority works for 2015.
The workshop will begin each day with a contemporary dance class taught by the members of the faculty of the University of Nicosia, Alexander Michael and Dara Milovanovic. The class will be followed by a repertory workshop by Milena Ugren Koulas in which the participants can experience her intensely physical dance style, approach to improvisation and composition.
