The University of Nicosia Medical School invites you to the Inaugural Lecture entitled “The State of Organ Transplantation in Cyprus – a revolution since 2011” to be delivered by Vassilis Hadjianastassiou, Professor of Surgery.
Kidney transplantation has been provided in Cyprus since October 1986. The system of transplantation has been revolutionised and modernised since 2011 to comply with the EU requirements. An account will be given of the importance of transplantation over other means of kidney replacement therapy, and the innovations and changes that have taken place since 2011. Our results of 180 transplants over a 7-year period (mean follow-up 3.5 years) will also be presented and compared with other countries to show that they are comparable with the best in the world.
