Joining forces for Healthier Population during COVID-19 pandemic

From 11 to 15 May 2020 the European Public Health Association (EUPHA) and the University of Nicosia Medical School are celebrating European Public Health Week.  The Medical School would like to share with you the following FREE virtual activities that demonstrate how members of varied sectors of the community are joining forces for healthier populations during this coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.  We hope these activities can help you in your efforts towards a healthful lifestyle.

Tuesday, May 12 “Primary Care in the Digital Age

  • 5pm-6pm:  “Tools to Succeed in Quitting Smoking“- A live virtual group discussion for those thinking about quitting smoking with Dr Nuno Ferreira and Dr Maria Cecilia Mosquera.  Organized by the UNIC Primary Care Centre, in collaboration with the Department of Social Sciences.

  • Video:  “Lessons from Cyprus: Primary Care in the Digital Age” – This video, posted on YouTube here, describes the work of the UNIC Primary Care Centre along the EUPHA theme: “COVID-19 and Primary Care in the Digital Age,” including the UPCC’s cutting edge “COVID-19 Diagnostic Tool,” lessons learned, challenges, and training needs.

Wednesday, May 13 “Staying Together for Mental Health

  • 5pm-6pm:  “Yoga and Meditation to Help with Sleep and Stress” – A live virtual class thanks to Mr Gaurav Vohra, yoga guru and teacher of Indian culture of the High Commission of India in Nicosia.  Register here for Webex details.
    For this session, we recommend having available a yoga mat.
