COVID-19 – Studying Online – Online Training Sessions for All Students – Monday 16.03.2020

Arrangements for Online Teaching of the Non-lab Courses | Plans for the Practicum and the Lab and Studio Courses

(For all students except Medical students who will receive information from their course administrators depending on their year of study in the MD and MBBS programmes)

Dear Students,

We would like to thank you once more for your understanding, flexibility and cooperation in embarking in online learning during this extraordinary situation. Your health is our highest priority so please ensure that you take very good care of yourself, your family and others. Please refer to the University’s latest announcements regarding health-related issues at www.unic.ac.cy/coronavirus.

Based on the latest directive of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport announced on Friday, 13th March 2020, the restrictions on the activities of all educational institutions in Cyprus will be extended to Friday, 10th of April 2020. Given that the following week after the 10th April is the Orthodox Easter Week, it is safe to assume that, unless the situation changes, we will not resume on-campus student activities before Wednesday, 22nd of April 2020 at the earliest. As already announced, the University is moving to online teaching as of Monday 16/3/2020.

1. Arrangements for Online Teaching for Non-lab Courses

The following information aims to enable you to move forward smoothly into the new learning environment. Please be patient and understanding. Your lecturer in each online course will be guiding you to familiarize yourself with the learning process and the online learning material.

a. Online Student Training Sessions Monday 16th March 2020

You should attend online one of the following University online training sessions:

During the online session you will learn how online classes are run and how you can attend videoconferences and study online. Furthermore, you will be able to ask various questions related to the online learning process, as well as questions of academic nature. Once you complete this training session, you will be able to smoothly adjust to the online learning process.

b. Online Classes as of Monday 16th March 2020

1. Online Class:
   a. The online teaching of your course will take place during the same class/section hours that your course was scheduled. Thus, your online schedule will be exactly the same as your existing face-to-face course schedule and therefore you will now attending the online lectures during the same days/time as your current course schedule.
   b. Instead of physically visiting your classroom, you will be joining from home your virtual online videoconference class. Your lecturer and your colleagues will be virtually present and your lecturer will deliver the online lectures.
   c. When you join the videoconference to attend/participate in your online class you will be able to watch your lecturer live, watch his/her lecture/presentation, ask questions and discuss any issues related to the lesson.
2. Your lecturer will:
   a. make available on the platform that s/he is using (Moodle or Faculty Intranet) the teaching/learning material and other learning activities of the course.
   b. contact you in order to inform you about the course material and the activities on the platform
   c. inform you as to how teaching/learning will take place following distance learning methods and how you will communicate with her/him and with each other.
3. You have to:
   a. attend/participate in the online synchronous videoconference lectures
   b. access daily the platform that your lecturer is using (Moodle or Faculty Intranet)
   c. check your emails daily
   d. study the course material
   e. communicate with your lecturer via the platform, by email, by skype or by any online ways that your lecturer suggests.
4. Course Adjustments:
   a. No face-to-face midterm exams will take place; instead, alternative assessment methods such as projects, assignments, portfolios, etc. will be assigned.
   b. Extension to deadlines will be considered accordingly
   c. Any group work assigned will be re-considered by your lecturer and individual assignments may replace group work. If deemed essential to keep group work, no physical interaction should take place between you and other students; instead virtual meetings, electronic communication and online group-work tools (such as wiki) should be used.

2. Arrangements for the Practicum and the Lab and Studio Courses

The University Schools’ Departments are currently looking into alternative solutions for the completion of the lab and studio courses, as well as the practicums. You will be informed in due course about these arrangements.

Διευθετήσεις για Εξ αποστάσεως Διδασκαλία των μη Εργαστηριακών Μαθημάτων | Σχεδιασμός για την Πρακτική Άσκηση, τα Studio και τα Εργαστηριακά Μαθήματα

(Για όλους τους φοιτητές εκτός των φοιτητών Ιατρικής οι οποίοι θα λαμβάνουν πληροφορίες από τον συντονιστή του προγράμματός τους (MD ή MBBS) αναλόγως του έτους σπουδών τους)

Αγαπητές φοιτήτριες και αγαπητοί φοιτητές,

Θα θέλαμε να σας ευχαριστήσουμε ακόμα μια φορά για την κατανόηση, την ελαστικότητα και τη συνεργασία που επιδεικνύετε στη προσφορά των εξ αποστάσεως μαθημάτων σε αυτή την εξαιρετικά κρίσιμη κατάσταση. Η υγεία σας είναι η ύψιστη μας προτεραιότητα. Επομένως, σας παρακαλούμε να διασφαλίσετε ότι λαμβάνετε μέτρα προστασίας για τον εαυτό σας, την οικογένεια και τους γύρω σας. Στη βάση των οδηγιών του Υπουργείου Παιδείας, Πολιτισμού, Νεολαίας και Αθλητισμού που δημοσιοποιήθηκαν την Παρασκευή 13 Μαρτίου 2020, οι περιορισμοί στις δραστηριότητες όλων των εκπαιδευτικών ιδρυμάτων στην Κύπρο θα επεκταθούν μέχρι την Παρασκευή 10 Απριλίου 2020. Με δεδομένο ότι την αμέσως επόμενη εβδομάδα μετά τις 10 Απριλίου 2020 ξεκινούν οι διακοπές του Πάσχα, μπορούμε με βεβαιότητα να πούμε ότι, εκτός απροόπτου, το Πανεπιστήμιο δεν θα επαναρχίσει τις εντός Πανεπιστημίου δραστηριότητές του πριν την Τετάρτη 22 Απριλίου 2020, το συντομότερο. Όπως έχει ήδη ανακοινωθεί, το Πανεπιστήμιο ξεκινά εξ αποστάσεως διδασκαλία από τη Δευτέρα 16 Μαρτίου 2020.

1) Διευθετήσεις για εξ αποστάσεως διδασκαλία των μη εργαστηριακών μαθημάτων

Οι πιο κάτω πληροφορίες έχουν ως στόχο να σας βοηθήσουν να ενταχθείτε ομαλά στο νέο μαθησιακό περιβάλλον. Σας παρακαλούμε να είστε υπομονετικοί και να δείχνετε κατανόηση. Οι καθηγητές/τριές σας σε κάθε εξ αποστάσεως μάθημα θα σας καθοδηγήσουν προκειμένου να εξοικειωθείτε με τη μαθησιακή διαδικασία και το μαθησιακό υλικό που βρίσκεται στην πλατφόρμα.

a) Εξ αποστάσεως μαθήματα κατάρτισης – Δευτέρα 16 Μαρτίου 2020

Θα πρέπει να παρακολουθήσετε ένα από τα πιο κάτω εξ αποστάσεως μαθήματα κατάρτισης που θα προσφέρει το Πανεπιστήμιο:

Κατά τη διάρκεια των μαθημάτων θα μάθετε πώς λειτουργούν τα εξ αποστάσεως μαθήματα, πώς μπορείτε να συμμετάσχετε σε μια τηλεδιάσκεψη και πώς να μελετάτε εξ αποστάσεως. Επιπρόσθετα, θα έχετε την ευκαιρία να απευθύνετε διάφορες ερωτήσεις που σχετίζονται με τη διαδικασία της εξ αποστάσεως μάθησης, όπως επίσης και άλλα ερωτήματα ακαδημαϊκής φύσεως. Όταν ολοκληρώσετε αυτό το μάθημα κατάρτισης θα μπορείτε να προσαρμοστείτε ομαλά στη διαδικασία της εξ αποστάσεως μάθησης.

b. Εξ αποστάσεως μαθήματα από τη Δευτέρα 16 Μαρτίου 2020

1. Εξ αποστάσεως μαθήματα:
   a. Η εξ αποστάσεως διδασκαλία του μαθήματός σας θα λαμβάνει χώρα την ίδια μέρα και ώρα κατά την οποία το μάθημά σας ήταν προγραμματισμένο. Επομένως, το εξ αποστάσεως πρόγραμμά σας θα είναι ακριβώς το ίδιο με το συμβατικό πρόγραμμα που είχατε πριν διακοπούν τα μαθήματα. Έτσι, τώρα θα συμμετέχετε στα εξ αποστάσεως μαθήματα τις ίδιες ακριβώς μέρες και ώρες με το πρόγραμμα που είχατε μέχρι τώρα.
   b. Αντί να παρουσιάζεστε διά ζώσης στην τάξη σας για μάθημα θα συνδέεστε από το σπίτι σας με την εικονική εξ αποστάσεως τάξη τηλεδιάσκεψης. Ο/H καθηγητής/τρια και οι συμφοιτητές/τριες σας θα είναι εικονικά παρόντες και ο/η καθηγητής/τρια σας θα κάνει την εξ αποστάσεως διδασκαλία.
   c. Όταν συνδεθείτε με την τηλεδιάσκεψη θα μπορείτε να συμμετάσχετε στην εξ αποστάσεως διδασκαλία/μάθηση, θα μπορείτε να παρακολουθείτε τον/την καθηγητή/τρια σας ζωντανά, να ρωτάτε ερωτήσεις και να συζητάτε διάφορα θέματα σχετικά με το μάθημα.
2. Ο/H καθηγητής/τρια σας θα:
   a. Ανεβάσει στην πλατφόρμα (Moodle ή Faculty Intranet) το διδακτικό υλικό και τις δραστηριότητες του μαθήματος.
   b. Θα επικοινωνήσει μαζί σας για να σας ενημερώσει για το διδακτικό υλικό και τις δραστηριότητες που βρίσκονται στην πλατφόρμα.
   c. Θα σας ενημερώσει πώς θα γίνεται η εξ αποστάσεως διδασκαλία και πώς επικοινωνείτε μαζί του/της και μεταξύ σας.
3. Εσείς πρέπει να:
   a. Συμμετέχετε στις εξ αποστάσεως διαλέξεις που θα γίνονται μέσω τηλεδιασκέψεων.
   b. Συνδέεστε καθημερινά με τη πλατφόρμα του μαθήματος (Moodle ή Faculty Intranet)
   c. Ελέγχετε τα emails σας καθημερινά.
   d. Μελετάτε το μαθησιακό υλικό του μαθήματος.
   e. Επικοινωνείτε με τον/την καθηγητή/τρια σας μέσω της πλατφόρμας, με email, με skype ή οποιοδήποτε άλλο εξ αποστάσεως τρόπο σας προτείνει ο/η καθηγητής/τριά σας.
4. Προσαρμογές στα μαθήματα:
   a. Δεν θα γίνουν διά ζώσης μεσοεξαμηνιαίες εξετάσεις. Θα χρησιμοποιηθούν εναλλακτικοί τρόποι αξιολόγησης όπως projects, εργασίες, portfolios κ.λπ.
   b. Ανάλογα με την περίπτωση μπορεί να δοθούν παρατάσεις των καταληκτικών ημερομηνιών για παράδοση εργασιών.
   c. Οι όποιες ομαδικές εργασίες σας έχουν ανατεθεί θα επανεξεταστούν από τους καθηγητές και ίσως να αντικατασταθούν με ατομικές εργασίες. Αν είναι αναγκαίο να παραμείνουν ομαδικές εργασίες τότε καμία διά ζώσης αλληλεπίδραση μεταξύ εσάς και των συμφοιτητών/τριών σας δεν πρέπει να λάβει χώρα, αλλά θα πρέπει να χρησιμοποιήσετε εικονικές συναντήσεις, εξ αποστάσεως επικοινωνία και εργαλεία ομαδικής εργασίας εξ αποστάσεως (π.χ. wiki).

2. Διευθετήσεις για την πρακτική άσκηση, τα studio και τα εργαστηριακά μαθήματα

Τα Τμήματα του Πανεπιστημίου εξετάζουν εναλλακτικές λύσεις για την ολοκλήρωση των εργαστηριακών μαθημάτων, των studio και της πρακτικής άσκησης. Θα ενημερωθείτε για αυτές τις διευθετήσεις εν ευθέτω χρόνω.

COVID-19 – Travel Advice Issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Valid from 1 a.m. of March 15 until March 30, 2020

Travel advice:

Avoid all travel abroad unless absolutely necessary

Travel advice validity period::

As of 15/3/2020, 01.00 Cyprus time, up to and including 30/3/2020.

In light of the continuing worldwide spread of coronavirus COVID-19 and given its classification by the World Health Organisation as a pandemic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises Cypriot citizens to avoid travelling abroad unless absolutely necessary.

Citizens of the Republic of Cyprus who are temporarily abroad or permanently reside abroad are advised to be particularly cautious, to follow local and international media on the latest developments regarding COVID-19, to follow the relevant instructions of the country’s authorities, to take self-protection measures, as well as to inform the accredited Diplomatic Mission of the Republic of their presence in the country.

Cypriot citizens who are or intend to travel abroad are encouraged to register on the website www.oikade.gov.cy

Relevant announcements, press releases, and information published by the Ministry of Health and other competent Authorities and Services of the Republic, including advice from the Ministry of Interior pertaining to documentation required for entry to the Republic of Cyprus, are available on the dedicated website created for this purpose, at https://www.pio.gov.cy/coronavirus/

It is noted that from 1 a.m. of March 15 and for a period of fifteen days as a first phase, entry to the Republic of Cyprus is prohibited to any citizen – regardless of nationality – who does not fall under the following categories:

• Cypriot citizens
• Legal residents in the Republic of Cyprus.
• European nationals or third-country nationals working in the Republic.
• Nationals of countries who are in a designated diplomatic service or mission under bilateral or international Conventions.
• European or third country nationals attending educational institutions in the Republic of Cyprus.
• Individual cases of European nationals or third-country nationals for unavoidable professional obligations, provided that the relevant permit has been obtained from the competent Ministry.

It is noted that all travelers returning to Cyprus from, or having travelled, in the last fourteen days to China’s Hubei Province, Italy, Iran and the Republic of Korea, will need to remain in isolation under medical supervision, for a period of fourteen days upon entry to the Republic.

In all other cases, travelers will be required to remain self-restricted and self-monitored for a period of fourteen days and they should contact the competent authorities of the Republic if they develop symptoms.

Υπό το φως της συνεχιζόμενης εξάπλωσης ανά το παγκόσμιο του κορωνοϊού COVID-19 και της κήρυξής του από τον Παγκόσμιο Οργανισμό Υγείας σε πανδημία, το Υπουργείο Εξωτερικών καλεί τους Κύπριους πολίτες να αποφεύγουν να ταξιδεύουν στο εξωτερικό, εκτός σε εξαιρετικές περιπτώσεις όπου κρίνεται απολύτως αναγκαίο.

Οι πολίτες της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας που βρίσκονται προσωρινά ή διαμένουν εκτός Κύπρου, προτρέπονται να είναι ιδιαίτερα προσεκτικοί, να παρακολουθούν τα τοπικά και διεθνή μέσα ενημέρωσης για τις εξελίξεις όσον αφορά τον COVID-19, να ακολουθούν τις σχετικές οδηγίες των αρχών της χώρας, να λαμβάνουν τα ατομικά μέτρα προστασίας και να ενημερώνουν τις κατά τόπους διαπιστευμένες Διπλωματικές Αποστολές της Δημοκρατίας για την εκεί παραμονή τους.

Οι Κύπριοι πολίτες που βρίσκονται ή προτίθενται να ταξιδεύσουν για οποιοδήποτε λόγο στο εξωτερικό ενθαρρύνονται όπως επισκεφθούν την ιστοσελίδα www.oikade.gov.cy για εγγραφή στο σύστημα εθελοντικής εγγραφής στοιχείων Κυπρίων πολιτών ΟΙΚΑΔΕ.

Σχετικές ανακοινώσεις, δελτία τύπου, πληροφορίες και αναλυτικές οδηγίες που έχουν εκδοθεί από το Υπουργείο Υγείας και άλλα συναρμόδια Υπουργεία και Υπηρεσίες της Δημοκρατίας, συμπεριλαμβανομένων διευκρινιστικών οδηγιών του Υπουργείου Εσωτερικών για αποδεικτικά έγγραφα εισόδου στην Κυπριακή Δημοκρατία, είναι διαθέσιμα στην ειδική ιστοσελίδα που έχει δημιουργηθεί για το σκοπό αυτό, στη διεύθυνση https://www.pio.gov.cy/coronavirus/ .

Σημειώνεται ότι από την 1^η πρωινή της 15^ης Μαρτίου και για περίοδο 15 ημερών σε πρώτη φάση, απαγορεύεται η είσοδος στην Κύπρο, οποιουδήποτε πολίτη – ανεξαρτήτως υπηκοότητας – που δεν εμπίπτει στις πιο κάτω κατηγορίες:

• Κύπριοι πολίτες
• Νόμιμα διαμένοντες στην Κυπριακή Δημοκρατία.
• Ευρωπαίοι υπήκοοι ή υπήκοοι τρίτων χωρών που εργάζονται στη Δημοκρατία.
• Υπήκοοι χωρών που ευρίσκονται σε εντεταλμένη διπλωματική υπηρεσία ή αποστολή, δυνάμει διμερών ή διεθνών συμβάσεων.
• Ευρωπαίοι υπήκοοι ή υπήκοοι τρίτων χωρών που φοιτούν σε εκπαιδευτικά ιδρύματα στην Κυπριακή Δημοκρατία.
• Μεμονωμένες περιπτώσεις Ευρωπαίων υπηκόων ή υπηκόων από τρίτες χώρες για αναπόφευκτες επαγγελματικές υποχρεώσεις, νοουμένου ότι έχει εξασφαλιστεί σχετική άδεια από το καθ’ ύλην αρμόδιο Υπουργείο.

Επισημαίνεται ότι, όλοι οι ταξιδιώτες που επιστρέφουν στην Κύπρο προερχόμενοι από ή έχοντας ταξιδέψει τις τελευταίες 14 μέρες πριν από την επιστροφή τους  στην Επαρχία Hubei της Κίνας, στην Ιταλία, το Ιράν και την Δημοκρατία της Κορέας, θα τίθενται σε περιορισμό, υπό ιατρική παρακολούθηση, για περίοδο 14 ημερών με την είσοδό τους στη Δημοκρατία.

Σε όλες τις άλλες περιπτώσεις, θα έχουν υποχρέωση να παραμένουν απαραίτητα σε αυτό-περιορισμό και αυτό-παρακολούθηση για περίοδο 14 ημερών και θα πρέπει να  επικοινωνούν με τις αρμόδιες Αρχές της Δημοκρατίας εάν εκδηλώσουν συμπτωματολογία.

COVID-19 Updated Travel Advice for Students, Faculty and Staff

We would like to inform students, faculty and staff who have recently travelled abroad that the Ministry of Health revised its travel directive for travelers returning in the last 14 days without having any symptoms, based on the categorised countries of origin as follows, effective as of 15 March 2020:

Category 1

• China (Hubei)
•  Italy
• Iran
• South Korea

Those that have recently travelled (last 14 days) to the above countries should stay in isolation under medical monitoring.

Category 2

• All other countries and areas

Those that have recently travelled (last 14 days) to all other countries and areas should stay at home in self-isolation or at premises managed by the Ministry of Health under telephone supervision (avoid close contact and travel, maintain basic hygiene rules, monitor and report symptoms with the Coronavirus call centre at 1420).

All passengers in categories 1 and 2 will have their temperature taken and will be taken to the airport infirmary.

Citizens of the above categories wishing to leave Cyprus before the expiration of the 14 days will be able to do so provided they do not exhibit any symptoms.

Citizens in Category 2 who have entered Cyprus before these directives came into force (15 March 2020) and have not completed 14 days since their arrival, are urged to remain in self-isolation and self-monitoring until the 14-day period has elapsed.

COVID-19 – Important Announcement | Σημαντική Ανακοίνωση

Dear Students,

Based on the latest directive of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport announced on Friday, 13.3.2020, the restrictions on the activities of all educational institutions in Cyprus will be extended to Friday, 10.4.2020.

Given that the following week after 10.4.2020 is Orthodox Easter Week, it is safe to assume that, unless the situation changes, the University will not resume on-campus student activities before Wednesday, 22.4.2020 at the earliest.

As noted in our announcement of Friday 13.3.2020, whether you stay in Cyprus or return temporarily to your home / home country, you should be reassured that the University will take all steps to ensure your smooth academic progression through the various measures previously announced, regardless of your physical location. We recognise that every student may have a different situation and we will be flexible to accommodate student needs in the best way possible.

We will be back in contact by end of day tomorrow, Sunday, 15.3.2020 with details about how the online teaching will be organised starting on Monday 16.3.2020.

Στη βάση των οδηγιών του Υπουργείου Παιδείας, Πολιτισμού, Νεολαίας και Αθλητισμού που δημοσιοποιήθηκαν την Παρασκευή 13.3.2020, οι περιορισμοί στις δραστηριότητες όλων των εκπαιδευτικών ιδρυμάτων στην Κύπρο θα επεκταθούν μέχρι την Παρασκευή 10.4.2020.

Με δεδομένο ότι την αμέσως επόμενη εβδομάδα μετά τις 10.4.2020 ξεκινούν οι διακοπές του Πάσχα, μπορούμε με ασφάλεια να πούμε ότι, εκτός απροόπτου, το Πανεπιστήμιο δεν θα επαναρχίσει τις εντός Πανεπιστημίου δραστηριότητές του πριν την Τετάρτη 22.4.2020, το συντομότερο.

Όπως έχει σημειωθεί στην ανακοίνωσή μας της Παρασκευής 13.3.2020, ανεξαρτήτως αν μείνετε στην Κύπρο, ή επιστρέψετε προσωρινά στην πατρίδα σας, θα πρέπει να είσαστε σίγουροι ότι το Πανεπιστήμιο θα λάβει όλα τα αναγκαία μέτρα, όπως αυτά έχουν ήδη ανακοινωθεί, για να διασφαλίσει την ομαλή σας φοίτηση. Αναγνωρίζουμε τις διαφορετικές ανάγκες του κάθε φοιτητή, γι’ αυτό θα είμαστε ευέλικτοι για να ανταποκριθούμε στις ανάγκες σας με τον καλύτερο δυνατό τρόπο.

COVID-19 – Important Student Announcement | Σημαντική Ανακοίνωση για Φοιτητές/Φοιτήτριες

Dear Students,

We would like to reassure you that whether you decide to stay in Cyprus or temporarily return to your home country, please note that the University of Nicosia will ensure, through flexible arrangements, that you will complete the Spring 2020 courses.

As of Monday 16/3/2020, all non-lab courses will be offered on-line. At the same time, the Departments and Schools are examining various solutions for the completion of the lab courses and the practicums.

We thank you once more for your understanding, flexibility and cooperation during this period.

In case you belong to CATEGORY 1 or 2 above, please inform immediately by phone, the Department of Student Affairs and the Health and Safety Office for further details regarding self-isolation. Appropriate arrangements will be made so that your learning process is not disrupted. For Faculty & Staff

In case you belong to CATEGORIES 1 or 2 above, we request that you work from home for a period of 14 days from your return. Faculty members should discuss with their Head of Department/Dean of School/Vice Rector for Academic Affairs arrangements (e.g. e-learning delivery, temporary replacement of the faculty member during this period), so that the learning process of the students is not disrupted. COVID-19 – Important Announcement

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

Following the announcement of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport and Youth on Wednesday 11.3.2020, the University of Nicosia has taken the following measures following approval of its Senate and Council.

1) The University of Nicosia will move to an online teaching mode for all non-lab on-campus courses as of Monday 16.3.2020 until further notice, using distance learning technologies and methodologies.

Specifically, this means:

a) All faculty will be in contact with their students by Monday 16.3.2020 with the specific plans for their courses
b) Online courses will continue to operate normally
c) On-campus classes and general activities will be cancelled until further notice
d) Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to communicate through email, learning management systems and other electronic methods during this week

2) The University of Nicosia would like to reassure students that it has plans in place to ensure that all students successfully complete the Spring semester and continue their academic progression.

3) All administrative services are operating for the benefit of students but, for the health and safety of our students and staff, will be working mainly remotely and limiting face-to-face interactions.

4) The University will maintain a number of staff on campus for informational, financial, coordination, maintenance, emergency and other limited activities.

5) Students should carefully monitor university and faculty announcements during this period.

6) The health of our students, faculty and staff is the University’s highest priority. We will act flexibly to operate the University smoothly during the Spring Semester while limiting risk to our community as much as possible. The University continues to diligently follow public health recommendations relating to testing and self-isolation of members of our community who may have travelled to high risk countries or have been in contact with high risk individuals (e.g. had contact with Nicosia General Hospital where one of the cases was identified).

7) The University Primary Care Centre (UPCC) remains open, but routine appointments have been cancelled to allow the UPCC to focus on potential emergency cases. Those who suspect they have symptoms of coronavirus should NOT go in person to the UPCC but instead call the UPCC at 22 368900 (M-F, 9am to 6pm), or their personal physician. Those who have symptoms suggestive of corona virus and meet the criteria for a suspected case (travelled to high risk countries or contact with suspected or known case in the last 14 days) can contact 1420 (dedicated National Health Service line).

COVID-19 Update

There are no confirmed coronavirus cases at the University of Nicosia. As noted in previous updates, following the Ministry of Health recommendations, certain individuals with respiratory symptoms / fever and relevant travel / contact history are being asked to self-isolate and conduct testing.

COVID-19 New Precautionary Measures

The health and wellbeing of students, faculty, staff and partners is the highest priority of the University of Nicosia (UNIC). Given this, we are constantly monitoring the current global health situation regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

There are no confirmed COVID-19 cases currently in Cyprus and the University of Nicosia is continuing to operate normally.
Despite this, in an abundance of caution and in the spirit of social responsibility, the University of Nicosia is taking the following additional precautionary measures to promote the safety of our University community and society at large:

1. Suspension of all official university-related international travel until further notice
2. Suspension or postponement of all events until further notice.
3. Please note that classes will not be affected and will continue to operate normally.
4. UNIC students and employees who already travelled to high risk countries are advised to follow all necessary self-isolation and precautionary steps as described on this page above.
5. UNIC encourages all students and employees to defer any non-essential personal travel abroad.

The university will continue to monitor the situation and take further actions if and as needed.

COVID-19 Outbreak in Patras (Greece)

There has been an outbreak of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Patras area (Greece).

Due to recent carnival events, many people from Cyprus may have visited Patras during the last few days.

UNIC students and staff who have recently visited or came into contact with people who have recently visited the aforementioned area and have symptoms (moderate or not) resembling those of COVID-19, are kindly requested to follow all appropriate precautions and measures as described below:

Coronavirus Travel Policy Update

• All students, faculty and staff should defer non-essential travel to China, South Korea, Japan, Italy and Iran.
• For students:
  • If there is an urgent need to travel to the countries mentioned above, please discuss your plans with the Department of Student Affairs, the Health and Safety Office and your Academic Advisor.
  • If you have travelled to one of the countries above within the last two weeks, we request that you self-isolate for a period of 14 days from your return and contact by phone, the Department of Student Affairs and the Health and Safety Office for further details regarding self-isolation. Appropriate arrangements will be made so that your learning process is not disrupted. • For Faculty and Staff:
