Commitment to Health, Safety, and Sustainability

UNIC Athens policies and procedures comply with national and European legislation, while the organisation’s Occupational Health and Safety Management System aligns with ISO 45001 standards, ensuring continuous improvement and creation of a safe environment.

The Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Office coordinates all health and safety activities, undertaking risk management across all University spaces, from teaching rooms and laboratories to residential and recreational areas. The Health and Safety Committee, supported by specialised subcommittees (e.g., Committee for Persons with Disabilities and Accessibility, Laboratory Safety Subcommittee), responds effectively to specific needs and risks.

Regular training, fire drills, and on-site inspections are conducted to maintain high safety standards. Additionally, the University maintains an extensive emergency response framework, including first aid stations and automated external defibrillators (AEDs) at key campus locations.
