Support Framework
Academic advising forms a crucial part of the University’s support framework. Each student benefits from scheduled meetings and advisory sessions with academic advisors, Department Heads, and Programme Coordinators. These sessions assist with course selection, degree planning, and understanding Academic Regulations and programme requirements. Through this proactive approach, students are appropriately prepared to meet their academic programme requirements.
early intervention
A distinctive feature of academic counselling is early intervention. Advisors collaborate with instructors to identify students showing low performance or lack of participation and address related challenges promptly. The goal is to provide targeted support, enabling students to overcome any difficulties and improve their academic progress.
The Academic Advising Department also offers support to UNIC students who need additional help achieving their academic goals. These services include learning support arrangements, tutoring services, and seminars/workshops, and are available to students with learning, physical, medical, or psychological difficulties or conditions and/or students with low academic performance.

The department employs a School Psychologist who supports students qualifying for learning support arrangements, offering programmes that facilitate smooth transition to student life, including counseling and training in academic skills.
Additional Services:
- Seminars/Workshops: These are designed for different student groups and cover essential skills necessary for academic success.
- Tutoring Support: Selected undergraduate or postgraduate students provide guidance in specific courses. Sessions are conducted individually, focusing on problem-solving, preparation for midterm or final examinations, and leveraging the experience of selected student tutors, always maintaining respect for the peer receiving support.
