UNIC Ranks Among Top 501-600 Universities Worldwide for Medical and Health

Recognised in six subject areas in the THE WUR by Subject 2026

The University of Nicosia has been ranked among the top 501-600 universities globally in the field of Medical & Health, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject 2026.

Based on the same results, UNIC is placed #140 among universities in the European Union in this subject area.

The Dean of the Medical School, Professor Adonis Ioannides, commented:
“The renewed inclusion of the University of Nicosia among the leading universities worldwide in such a competitive field as Medical & Health reflects the systematic work of the Medical School team and its dedication to excellence in education, research and service to society. The continuous strengthening of clinical research, strong links with hospitals and other healthcare facilities, and the adoption of the One Health approach, which interconnects human, animal, and environmental health, further strengthen our position and lay solid foundations for our next steps”.

The Dean of the School of Life and Health Sciences, Professor Kyriacos Felekkis, noted:
“Τhe University of Nicosia’s consistent presence in international rankings in Medical & Health clearly reflects our collective effort to provide modern, interdisciplinary education and to produce research that addresses real-world needs. Through a shared One Health strategy, in collaboration with the Schools of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, we aim for even greater progress in the coming years”.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings are widely regarded as one of the most established and comprehensive global university rankings, with decades of experience in evaluating institutions worldwide.

This latest result adds to a series of distinctions awarded to the University of Nicosia by Times Higher Education, most notably its placement among the top 501–600 universities globally in the overall World University Rankings 2026.
