Dr Christina Ioannou

Dr Christina Ioannou is Associate Dean of the School of Law of the University of Nicosia, Associate Professor of European Politics and Labour Law, and the Editor-in-Chief of the academic Journal ‘The Cyprus Review’. She is also a Senior Consultant on Labour and Employment Law issues with the Legal Firm A. & E. C. Emilianides, C. Katsaros & Associates LLC. In February 2021 she was appointed by the Council of Ministers of Cyprus in the five-member Committee of Ethics and Safeguarding in Sport, which is the country’s National Platform for sport integrity. She was re-appointed in January 2023 for a renewed five-year term, while also being appointed as President of the National School of Ethics in Sport, in October 2024. In December 2020 she was appointed by the former President of the Republic in his advising team on the Cyprus Problem, and participated in the Cyprus talks in Geneva, in April 2021. She is also a member of the bi-communal Technical Committee for Crime and Criminal Matters, following appointment by former President Anastasiades in June 2022. She also served a two-year term in the Parallel Parliament for Civil Society, in the Committee of Human Rights and Social Affairs (November 2019 – November 2021). Dr Ioannou is a member of the Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WICCI) Cyprus. She is the Director of the Gender and Law Research Group at the University of Nicosia, a member of the University Gender Equality Ad Hoc Committee and the University Centre of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (CEDI). She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Royal Commonwealth Society – Cyprus Branch. Dr Ioannou has participated οver the years in many EU-funded research programmes (Jean Monnet, European Parliament contracts, European Commission reports as country expert, Socrates Programmes) and national research grants, international conferences, and has published widely on the areas of Labour Law, EU social affairs, Welfare State politics, Equality and Cyprus politics.

Η Δρ Χριστίνα Ιωάννου είναι Αναπληρώτρια Κοσμήτορας της Νομικής Σχολής του Πανεπιστημίου Λευκωσίας και Αναπληρώτρια Καθηγήτρια Ευρωπαϊκής Πολιτικής και Εργατικού Δικαίου στο Τμήμα Πολιτικής και Διακυβέρνησης και στο Τμήμα Νομικής. Κατέχει πτυχίο Οικονομικών από το Πανεπιστήμιο του Warwick, μεταπτυχιακό στην Ευρωπαϊκή Πολιτική και Διακυβέρνηση από το Πανεπιστήμιο του Manchester και διδακτορικό από το ίδιο πανεπιστήμιο. Η Δρ Ιωάννου είναι Aρχισυντάκτρια του επιστημονικού περιοδικού The Cyprus Review. Είναι ανώτερος νομικός σύμβουλος σε εργατικά θέματα στο νομικό γραφείο Α. & Α. Κ. Αιμιλιανίδης, Κ. Κατσαρός & Συνεργάτες ΔΕΠΕ. Από τον Φεβρουάριο του 2021 είναι μέλος της πενταμελούς Επιτροπής Δεοντολογίας και Προστασίας του Αθλητισμού, ενώ από τον Οκτώβριο του 2024 είναι επίσης Πρόεδρος της Εθνικής Σχολής Δεοντολογίας του Αθλητισμού. Είναι επίσης μέλος της δικοινοτικής Τεχνικής Επιτροπής για το Έγκλημα και Εγκληματολογικά Θέματα από τον Ιούνιο του 2022. Τον Δεκέμβριο του 2020 διορίστηκε στην ομάδα συμβούλων του τέως Προέδρου της Δημοκρατίας για θέματα Κυπριακού, ενώ τον Νοέμβριο του 2019 διορίστηκε ως μέλος της Παράλληλης Βουλής για την Κοινωνία των Πολιτών (Επιτροπή Ανθρωπίνων Δικαιωμάτων και Κοινωνικών Υποθέσεων) για διετή θητεία. Είναι επίσης μέλος του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου του Royal Commonwealth Society – Cyprus Branch και εξεταστής στο Ίδρυμα Κρατικών Υποτροφιών Κύπρου. Έχει εκδώσει μονογραφίες και άλλα συγγράμματα και έχει δημοσιεύσει εκτεταμένα σε επιστημονικά περιοδικά και αναγνωρισμένους εκδοτικούς οίκους, κυρίως στους τομείς των ευρωπαϊκών θεσμικών, νομικών και κοινωνικών θεμάτων, σε θέματα ισότητας, καθώς και στον τομέα του Εργατικού Δικαίου.
