“Grab a UNIC Coffee” Series Launches with Session on EU Policy towards Ukraine
The Department of Politics and Governance of the University of Nicosia, in collaboration with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Cyprus Office, has launched a new series of concise online briefings titled “Grab a UNIC Coffee”. These online 30-minute sessions are designed to bring timely policy discussions directly to participants in an informal, engaging format.
The inaugural session, “EU Policy towards Ukraine in a Time of Multiple Security Challenges”, was held on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, and featured Dr. Elena Lazarou, Director General of the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP).
Dr. Lazarou explored how the European Union has navigated its policy response toward Ukraine since the outbreak of Russia’s war, and what this means for Europe’s own security architecture. With Russia increasingly posing a direct threat to EU member states, the session examined the far-reaching implications of the Union’s political choices not only for the countries directly involved, but for the continent as a whole.
