The PBL rooms are the cornerstone of the student-centred approach to early medical education. Designed for intimate, collaborative learning, these spaces bring together small groups of 8–10 students and a tutor to analyse complex, real-world clinical cases. This environment acts as a vital bridge between basic sciences and clinical application, where students are empowered to develop critical thinking, diagnostic reasoning, and self-directed learning skills.
Beyond academic inquiry, these rooms serve as a training ground for the core of patient-centred care. Through sessions with simulated patients, students gain hands-on experience in essential communication, learning to navigate challenging scenarios—such as delivering difficult news, managing patient emotions, and maintaining rigorous standards of confidentiality. By integrating technical reasoning with professional empathy, our PBL rooms ensure that students are not only prepared to solve clinical problems but are also equipped with the interpersonal skills required for effective patient care in their future careers.
