The George Papanicolaou Amphitheatre is a high-capacity academic venue designed to support large-scale teaching, institutional events, and interdisciplinary engagement.

It is architecturally and technically aligned with the adjacent amphitheatre, allowing the two amphitheatres to open up and interconnect when required, forming a single continuous large-scale lecture and event space.

In its standard configuration, the amphitheatre supports lectures, academic presentations, guest talks, and structured teaching across a wide range of disciplines. Its design prioritises clarity of instruction, acoustic performance, and effective engagement across large student cohorts.

The tiered seating layout ensures unobstructed sightlines throughout the space, while integrated audiovisual systems enable high-resolution projection and consistent sound distribution. The infrastructure is designed to support both traditional and digitally enhanced teaching formats, including lecture capture and live streaming, facilitating hybrid participation and extended access to academic content.

Beyond core teaching functions, the George Papanicolaou Amphitheatre serves as a venue for academic discourse, professional briefings, panels, and institutional events involving external stakeholders.
